Lilian Robl is a German artist and writer whose work focuses on film and language. Her interdisciplinary practice weaves together theory, autobiography, literature, and science. Her works have been shown in exhibitions at venues such as GiG (Munich), Top Space (Berlin), Wienwoche (Vienna), and the Hanne Darboven Center (Hamburg), as well as at international film and video festivals including the Barcelona International Short Film Festival, Les Instants Vidéo Marseille, GRRL Haus Cinema Berlin, Athens Digital Arts Festival, and Filmhaus Cologne. She is also active in literary contexts, with readings and presentations at the Literaturhaus München, Monacensia München, and Auftakt Festival Cologne.
Her literary texts have been published in BELLA triste, figurationen, process*in, and archipel. In 2022, she was awarded the Federal Grant for the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. In 2023, she received the European Grant from the District of Upper Bavaria, the International Residency at Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus, and the VIDEODOX Award at the Underdox Festival for Documentary and Experimental Film in Munich. In 2025, she is Artist in Residence at Künstlerhaus Salzburg and at Fundaziun Nairs in Switzerland. Since 2022, she has formed the artist-curator duo Crying Curators together with Leontine Köhn.
