Orell Kötter lives and studies in Berlin. He studied at HfG Offenbach with Kerstin Cmelka and currently studies at Kunsthochschule Berlin Weissensee with Else Gabriel.

Kötter’s work often has a performative or interactive character, reflecting on the reception of art and exhibition spaces. He is particularly interested in the interaction of different elements, as well as the unpredictable human component—whether experiencing one’s own sensations during a performance or incorporating audience interactions into a work. His practice explores the tension between object, space, and viewer, along with the social questions and reflections this relationship generates.

In his most recent performance work, Kötter focuses on language and the experience of language detached from meaning or context. It raises questions about understanding language, the linearity of narratives, simultaneity, and the tension between visual and auditory perception.
