Thomas Köck born in 1986 in Steyr, Upper Austria, is one of the most influential contemporary theater artists. His plays are frequently performed both in Austria and internationally, and he has received numerous awards for his texts and works. Since 2015, he has been creating his own productions, musical formats, screenplays, radio plays, and AI-based performances within various collective contexts for theaters, museums, and festivals. He is also the co-founder of the blog nazisundgoldmund.net.
In 2018 and 2019, he won the Mülheim Drama Prize twice in a row. In 2024, his play forecast: ödipus was again nominated for the Mülheim Drama Prize. The film UN GRAN CASINO, based on an original work by Köck, was nominated for the CineRebels Award at the Munich Film Festival in 2025.
His book Chronik der laufenden Entgleisungen was published by Suhrkamp in 2024 and reached number 1 on the ORF Best List. Together with Katharina Ernst, Annea Lounatvuori, and Andreas Spechtl, he founded the group the weird & the eerie, which is currently working on an album.
